Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Amp Edition specs
The Amp Edition obviously has many similarities to the Founders Edition 1080 Ti – 11GB of GDDR5X memory, 3,584 CUDA cores, and a memory clock of 11Gbps among them. You’d almost think the Zotac card was based on the same chip or something…
However, there are some differences – most notably, Zotac have managed to squeeze more clock speed out of the card, bringing it up to a 1,683MHz boost clock. That’s 101MHz higher than the stock reference clock of the GTX 1080 Ti but it’s still only the same amount many other partner cards are reaching. In real gaming fps terms, it’s hardly a mind-blowing bump in performance for those buying the Amp Edition and looking for a tangible performance improvement over a stock-clocked card.
Having said that, with some light overclocking, we were able to bring the GPU clock up to around the 1.92GHz mark. And, realistically, that’s what most people will be buying the Amp Edition for – chasing the overclocking potential to ramp the Nvidia GPU tech as far as it’ll go without having to sell another of their kids to pay for Nvidia’s Titan Xp.
As a result of this increased out-of-the-box speed, the Amp Edition draws 270W of power – 20W more than the standard 1080 Ti. That’s why Zotac have beefed-up the cooling, using copper contacts to draw heat away from the core as well as thermal heat pads and dual fans to keep the temperature down and keep throttling at bay. Even overclocked, the Amp Edition actually remains cooler than an untouched Founders Edition card.
Zotac’s Freeze cooling function is a nifty feature, too. It’s the name they give to their 0dB fan cooling design, which means the fans don’t start spinning up until the GPU hits temperature. When you’re not running any graphically intensive apps through your PC, the fans remain idle and the card silent. Zotac are saying that through ‘precision temperature gauging’ and a widened temperature tolerance they’re able to avoid any of the stop-start stuttering you can experience when the GPU temp hovers around that activation point.
If having the most colourful PC is your thing, the Amp Edition’s SPECTRA LED lighting will make a welcome addition to the light show going on inside your case. You’re able to customise the colour too, so if you were hoping for a uniform aesthetic in your case you’re in luck.
Our Take
Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Ti is the most powerful consumer GPU ever, and Zotac’s AMP! edition refines that edge with premium features and solid overclocking, all for $720 (or less) at most retailers. It’s easily the best equipped card at the price, which makes it a strong contender for those seeking the absolute best performance possible.
Is there a better alternative?
That doesn’t mean the case is closed, and Zotac’s offering is far from alone. Nvidia’ reference GTX 1080 Ti typically sells for $680, which gives it a minor price savings over the Zotac’s AMP! Edition. However, the Zotac model has an overclocking and a solid cooler, so we think it’s worth the extra cash.
Of course, most buyers will be comparing the Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP! Edition to other customized models – and it still holds up well. Zotac’s overclock is competitive with other cards in its price bracket. And while it’s very large, the Zotac model is as gargantuan as some models from Gigabyte (though, to be fair, Zotac does offer a massive top-end AMP Extreme model).
We do recommend the Zotac over MSI’s Armor edition. While we liked that card well enough, its design was uninspired, and it was barely overclocked over stock. Zotac’s take offers more.
EVGA’s GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition is probably the Zotac’s fiercest competition. EVGA has a strong reputation, in that card is priced almost identically. However, the Zotac AMP! Edition does offer a marginally faster overclock. We have not tested EVGA’s option, but we think choosing between it and the Zotac will likely come down to which is on sale at the time you make your purchase.
How long will it last?
By spending as much as possible on a GPU, users are essentially ensuring that this graphics solution will stand the test of time. The performance is more than enough for most modern, high-refresh rate monitors, which leaves plenty of room to go as game demands do the same. Zotac also covers all its graphics solutions for two years, which is better than most cards, and only falls short of offerings from more expensive board partners.
Should you buy it?
Yes. Zotac’s AMP! series cards have always presented a great balance of performance, high-end features, and modest overclocking, and the GTX 1080 Ti rendition is no different. It does so well under the price of competing cards, and there isn’t much else you could ask for when it comes to selecting a GPU.

Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Amp Edition performance
As you would hope with a factory-overclocked card, the Amp Edition exceeds the performance of the stock-clocked Nvidia version in most cases, but the performance boost is so small it’s going to be indiscernible in-game. Not really what you want, is it?Like we said before, though, people likely won’t be buying the Amp Edition for the out-of-the-box performance, but to overclock it. So what’s the overclocking like? Oh, it’s none too exciting either? Oh dear.
Yep, it’s not the answer we were hoping for, but our benchmarking showed that, when we’d got both cards running as fast as they’d go, our Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Amp Edition GPU actually performed slightly worse in most cases than our overclocked Founders Edition GTX 1080 Ti. The extra cooling and improved power componentry haven’t really delivered the extra GPU performance you might have expected over the stock Nvidia version, then.
That said, the fans are impressively quiet even when we were giving the card a real battering. You aren’t going to keep your significant other awake with your late-night gaming sessions when rocking this card. Conversely, the Founders Edition certainly isn’t shy about letting you know its fans are running, so it’s certainly something to consider if fan noise winds you up.
As we mentioned in our Founders Edition review, $700+ is still bloody expensive for a graphics card. When comparing the price of the Amp Edition to the Founders Edition, $50 (£75) more may not seem like a huge amount, but it all adds up to a serious sum of money. Not as serious as the asking price for a Titan Xp, but still…

Актуальная 3D-производительность, полученная при ручном оверклокинге, составила 5.5%.
Пределы мощности
Все видеокарты NVIDIA имеют предел мощности, определенный в BIOS, который ограничивает энергопотребление, соответствующим образом регулируя частоты Boost. Существует второй предел, определяющий максимальный лимита настройки TDP для пользовательского разгона; то есть, насколько далеко уйдет ползунок мощности. На второй диаграмме значение (+ xx%) показывает процентное увеличение от предела мощности по умолчанию для тестируемой карты до максимально возможной ручной настройки — диапазона регулировки ползунка.

В первую очередь для майнинга видеокартой ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMP подходят такие алгори, «TimeTravel10» , «Lyra2REv2». Менее выгодным добыча монет будет на алгори, «PHI1612». Также можно добывать монеты алгори (Эфир), но это будет почти не выгодно.
Например, на 28.05.2018 года, на алгори (монета ZEC) с одной видеокарты ZOTAC 1080 Ti AMP Вы будете получать:
- Всего монет в сутки с одной видеокарты ZOTAC 1080 TI AMP– 0.0098 ZEC.
- Сумма в долларах, эквивалентная добываемым монетам, за сутки добычи монет алгоритма Equihash одной видеокартой ZOTAC 1080 TI AMP = 2.20$
Рассмотрим алгори (монета BTX), который тоже очень хорошо подходит для добычи на видеокарте Zotac 1080 TI AMP:

Стоит сразу отметить, что курсы криптовалют постоянно меняются и в любой момент добыча Zec может быть намного прибыльнее, чем BTX. Так же меняются и сложности. Ели Вы хотите добывать монеты, работающие на других алгоритмах, то советуем все же копать более выгодные монеты алгоритма Equihash, затем продавать их на бирже или в обменнике и получать нужную Вам монету. Так Вы заработаете больше, чем если бы сразу майнили монету невыгодного алгоритма.
Чтобы не быть голословными, приведем пример: 2.20$ долларов – доход в сутки с одной карты при майнинге Zec (алгоритм Equihash) и 1.53$ доход в сутки с той же видеокарты AMP 1080 TI при майнинге Ethereum (алгоритм Ethash).
Получается, если продавать Zec и покупать с полученных денег на бирже ETH, то выйдет, что Эфира Вы будете получать на 0,67$ цента больше, чем при прямом его майнинге. А это лишние 20$ долларов в месяц, которые можно потратить на покупку Эфира.
Обратите внимание, что в 2021 году вышла таблетка для видеокарт Nvidia «OhGodAnETHlargementPill», которая позволяет разогнать 1080 TI до 55 Mh/s на алгори, что на 27.05.2018 года позволит добывать Эфир на 2.43$. Таблетка раскрывает всю силу GDDR5
Но стоит отметить, что она сильно разогревает видеопамять карточки, что может плохо на ней сказаться, а значит быстрее привести к поломке. При этом графический чип холоднее, чем на алгоритме Equihash

Вывод
Большим минусом будет то, что термопрокладки часто текут, а кулера не защищают от пыли, как заявлено производителями. За 2-3 месяца беспрерывной работы в майнинге, карта покрывается пылью в области кулеров и на решетке радиатора.
Если Вы планируете установку фермы из карт данной модели, то учтите, что Zotac 1080 TI AMP очень шумная. Шум из 4 карт, можно сравнить с шумом постоянно работающего мощного фена для волос.
Видеокарта Zotac 1080 TI AMP отлично показывает себя в майнинге: в ферме из 5-6 карт отлично себя чувствует, не вылетает и не перегревается.

Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Amp Edition verdict
We have to admit it – we didn’t see this one coming. The whole purpose of a factory-overclocked card is to either provide a measurably speedier gaming experience out-of-the-box, or provide enough frequency headroom that you can push it further than you might with a reference card. But that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
On paper, the numbers suggested a bump in performance (albeit not a huge one), but sadly, that barely translates into meaningful frame rate gains. We can’t speak for the other partner cards’ performance without testing them (many of which boast the same increased clock speed as the Zotac’s, while Gigabyte’s Aorus Xtreme clocks as high as 1,746MHz), but if you’re really hungry for yet more graphical power you might have to bite the bullet and shell out for a Titan Xp. But that way madness lies…
In our humble opinion, it’d be worth waiting until the dust settles after AMD’s Vega has joined the fray. Though who knows what the prices for current high-end graphics will be in six months?Zotac’s IceStorm cooling array is something to be applauded – for those without a great deal of living space, a loud PC can make you the house pariah – but sadly, it doesn’t make it much of an improvement over the stock card, even if it does have all the graphical goodness of the standard GTX 1080 Ti.
Yes, the Zotac is arguably sexier than the Founders Edition card, but if your primary concern is wanting your PC to look like a disco ball when you boot it up, you’d be better placed using the spare money on LEDs and getting crafty.
