Here we support two types of key: local key and leder key

Local key

• Create a local key

  The newly created local key will be encrypted and saved to the local keystore.

• Sign transaction with a local key

  For instance, if you want to send a token transfer transaction, you can use the above command. The flag is used to specify which key should be used to sign the transaction.

Ledger key

Create a local key

Before creating a new ledger key, make sure you have performed these steps:
1. Ledger device is installed binance ledger app and the version should be later or equal to v1.1.3.
2. Connect your ledger device to your machine and input pin code to unlock it.
3. Open the binance ledger app on your ledger device.

Sign transaction with a ledger key

Taking transfer transaction for example, please follow these steps:
1. Execute command in your console:

Peg-In Procedure

Peg-in procedure allows users to swap the native tokens to the equivalent of pegged tokens on Binance Chain or Binance Smart Chain. The following steps are taken:

1. The user creates a Swap Request to Binance Bridge Service Provider
2. Binance Bridge Service Provider allocates a deposit address
3. The user has to deposit the agreed amount of native tokens to this address. If the equivalent is not sent before the deadline, the native tokens are refundable.
4. Binance Bridge Service Provider will take notice of the upcoming transfer and send the equivalent pegged tokens to the receiver’s address
5. The user can see the change of his balance of these pegged tokens.

6. Binance Bridge Service Provider will lock the original tokens.

Даже если это сделают все проекты одновременно, они не смогут ощутимо замедлить работу экосистемы, что очень важно при выполнении финансовых операций. Благодаря кроссчейновой совместимости новая сеть позволяет переводить активы между цепочками

Для оплаты сборов при запуске смарт-контрактов и dApps используется внутренний токен Smart Chain BNB.

BNB будет работать на BSC так же, как ETH работает на Ethereum, так что он останется «родным токеном» как для BSC, так и для BC. Клиенты могут использовать внутренние BNB для:

• Платы за развертывание смарт-контрактов на BSC;
• Ставки на выбранных валидаторов;
• Выполнения кроссчейн операций.

При запускеновой ветки определенную сумму BNB сожгли на BC и, затем, отчеканили на BSC.Так был создан стартовый фонд поддержки сети. Активы используются для оплатытранзакционных сборов, чтобы перераспределить BNB между сетями BC и BSC спомощью механизма кроссчейн-цепи.

BSC использует алгоритм консенсуса Proof of Staked Authority. Валидаторы делают ставки в токенах BNB, чтобы принять участие в создании блоков. Протокол не предусматривает блокового субсидирования BNB, то есть при создании новых блоков доверенные узлы не получают ни копейки, довольствуясь только комиссионными за обработку транзакций. Чтобы предотвратить инфляцию, команда Binance регулярно выкупает и сжигает монеты.

BSC может работать с блокчейном Ethereum, и токенами ERC 20, которые в новой сети бинанс имеют обозначение BEP2E. BSC и BC работают синхронно, чтобы один токен мог использоваться в обоих форматах. Токены BEP2 будут расширены для размещения нового атрибута, чтобы связать токен с контрактом BSC BEP2E. Эмитенты могут либо сначала создать BEP2, либо BEP2E, и они могут быть связаны позже. Всем эмитентам рекомендуется установить привязку сразу после выпуска.

Receiving BNB on BSC

As of the moment, there are only 2 ways to get BNB on your Smart Chain address:

The first one is self-explanatory, so we will focus on the second option. You can already withdraw your BNB from a Binance exchange account to your Trust Wallet Smart Chain address. Here is the official announcement.

Get the Smart Chain address

Search for Smart Chain and enable it on the app. Then, tap on Receive to see the address. Tap on Copy to save the address on your device clipboard.

Withdraw BNB to BSC

On your Binance account, open your BNB wallet then tap on Withdraw. Select BEP20 as the Network. Indicate the amount and complete the steps to withdraw.

Wait for the exchange to process your request. Once it is confirmed, you will immediately receive BNB to your Smart Chain address.

Which Private Key To Use

There are two ways for you to sign transaction：

Use Local Keystore File

This is the default way to sign transactions with . It will use the encrypted keystore files saved at bnbcli home. You need to specify which key to decrypt with .

Use Private Key in Hardware Wallet

First, you must add when creating a new address. For example,

You could also specify and to generate more addresses. After the generation, you could use Ledger for signing.

When you use the address to sign transactions, will send transactions to Ledger and get signatures. Then build the signed transactions and boardcast them to full nodes.

Where to connect

You can manage you keys locally without connecting to any node. But if you want to interact with Binance Chain, you need to connect to one of Binance Chain full nodes.

You can run your own full node, which may automatically connect to Binance Chain, and you can run your CLI there with your own full node. In the mean time, you can connect to any full nodes provided by other people.

Ownbit Wallet

We have found this “Bitcoin and Ethereum Multisig Wallet” on the Google’s first page for Binance Smart Chain wallet research, probably due mentioned in Binance Chain Docs powered by the backlink but didn’t found it very useful nor good.

It supports iOS and Android devices with not so many downloads but mixed reviews with lot’s of bad ones.

You can create regular or multisig wallet. But also what they call it “cold wallet” which we all know are truly only the hardware wallets, and your mobile device should be offline all the time (maybe buying another phone just to use it), well that’s not good idea… Except that something most people didn’t anticipated is you have only 7 days trial on Multisig and “Cold Wallet” after which you have to pay for membership.

It has a DApps explorer, I had to type in the whole address to access Pancakeswap and when trying to connect through WalletConnect app crashed. You can send receive BSC tokens, but really compared to other wallets not worth it. Skip Ownbit wallet. 

• App crashes when connecting to DApps
• Multisig and their so called “Cold wallet” are not free, you start using to find out you have to pay after 7 days trial

Steps to set up MetaMask for Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

If you have already created your MetaMask wallet, you can directly jump to step  2.

Step  1 – Set up MetaMask wallet

a. Add MetaMask extension to chrome(Add from here).

b. Look for the MetaMask logo on the chrome toolbar and click on it.

c. Click on “Get Started.”

d. Click on “Create a wallet” You can also import your existing wallet if you have any.

e. Now, you will find the Help Us Improve MetaMask page. It is up to you whether you want to share user data like user experience, events with MetaMask. I will go with “I Agree.”

f. Next, it will ask to set a password to access the wallet. Enter a password of your choice having eight characters and agree to terms & conditions. Click “Create.”

g. You will find the Secret backup phrase. Please save it to your local system to restore your account later. Click “Next.”

h. Place all the words of the secret phrase in the original order. Click “Confirm.”

i. Congratulations!!! You have successfully set up your MetaMask wallet. Click on “All Done.”

Key features

Proof of Staked Authority

Although Proof-of-Work (PoW) has been approved as a practical mechanism to implement a decentralized network, it is not friendly to the environment and also requires a large size of participants to maintain the security.

Proof-of-Authority(PoA) provides some defense to 51% attack, with improved efficiency and tolerance to certain levels of Byzantine players (malicious or hacked).
Meanwhile, the PoA protocol is most criticized for being not as decentralized as PoW, as the validators, i.e. the nodes that take turns to produce blocks, have all the authorities and are prone to corruption and security attacks.

Other blockchains, such as EOS and Cosmos both, introduce different types of Deputy Proof of Stake (DPoS) to allow the token holders to vote and elect the validator set. It increases the decentralization and favors community governance.

To combine DPoS and PoA for consensus, Binance Smart Chain implement a novel consensus engine called Parlia that:

1. Blocks are produced by a limited set of validators.
2. Validators take turns to produce blocks in a PoA manner, similar to Ethereum’s Clique consensus engine.
3. Validator set are elected in and out based on a staking based governance on Binance Chain.
4. The validator set change is relayed via a cross-chain communication mechanism.
5. Parlia consensus engine will interact with a set of system contracts to achieve liveness slash, revenue distributing and validator set renewing func.

Light Client of Binance Chain

To achieve the cross-chain communication from Binance Chain to Binance Smart Chain, need introduce a on-chain light client verification algorithm.
It contains two parts:

1. Stateless Precompiled contracts to do tendermint header verification and Merkle Proof verification.
2. Stateful solidity contracts to store validator set and trusted appHash.

Sync Mode

Fast Sync

The default sync mode. Synchronizes a full node doing a fast synchronization by downloading the entire state database, requesting the headers first, and filling in block bodies and receipts afterward. Once the fast sync reaches the best block of the Binance Smart Chain network, it switches to full sync mode.

Full Sync

Synchronizes a full node starting at genesis, verifying all blocks and executing all transactions. This mode is a bit slower than the fast sync mode but comes with increased security.
